Software QA Tester - Advanced Technology Division

Role: Under minimal supervision, accountable to document and create test cases and to execute and verify those cases as part of the overall testing of software products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan testing activities
• Write test plans based on user requirements and design specifications
• Execute tests and report errors to the design team
• Set up complex test scenarios and writing test tools
• System testing, regression testing and integration testing
• Investigate and diagnose problems that involve code analysis
• Ensure up-to-date specifications for all software under test
• Understand and follow Company testing methodology.
• Meet testing deadlines. Complete status reports on time.
• Communicate problems/concerns to designated Project Leads
• Use established system to report defects. Categorize defects correctly. Explain defects thoroughly.
• Participate in the generation of software requirement specifications for GIS applications
• Deliverables:
  • Traceability Matrices
  • Test Plans
  • Record of Test Results
  • Foster Quality Assurance Practices
  • Code Review reports
  • Defect Reports as applicable
    

Qualifications:

• Computer Science Degree or College Diploma  in Programming with GIS background
• Minimum 2 yrs experience in SW testing in product development environment 
• Ability to read and understand C++ code to facilitate troubleshooting and code walkthroughs
• Solid bug tracking and test reporting skills
• Understanding of System Development Lifecycle
• Familiarity with state task diagrams, Windows XP, MS Office
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Team Player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
