Product Engineer - Industrial 3D Imaging
Role: Reporting to the Product Design Supervisor responsible for providing product engineering support and assistance in the design and development of existing products in accordance with industry regulations, cost and quality guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide product engineering for and assist in the design and improvement of the company’s Industrial & 3D Imaging products. The current focus of this position is supporting the Lynx mobile product through its life cycle.
- Work with Product Manager and Sales Managers to evaluate the ability of the product to meet requirements requested by customers
- Assist in planning detail objectives; aid in preparation of necessary sketches, design layouts, and other specifications; obtain models and necessary samples, and request testing and analysis of materials, models, principles and other elements related to product design.
- Provide technical support to Corporate Manufacturing and the engineering project managers during the planning of engineering projects. Ensure all changes to the products will result in the specified goals. Ensure changes integrate into the existing design. Assume responsibility for product improvement after transfer from design to production.
- Support I&3D Imaging activities (sales, production, customer support) as they apply to the system capabilities, design and troubleshooting. Evaluate changes to the product for feasibility, impact to the system, scope of change (how changes propagate to the existing mechanical, electrical and software subsystems), technical risk and ability to a achieve desired results.
- Prepare prototypes for testing and provide technical assistance as to design feasibility and make recommendations for necessary changes. Prepare BOM and assist with developing test procedures and pass/fail criteria for products.
- Ensure all technical documentation of the products are complete and correct.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- P. Eng. Designation an asset
- 2 years experience in related product design and/or manufacturing in an engineering role.
- Knowledge of basic engineering principles and their application to product design and development
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, tact and diplomacy in dealing with superiors, co-workers and operations staff.
