Systems Engineer - Optech International - USA

Role:The employee is a member of a small research and development team focused on the evolution of Optech’s bathymetric LIDAR technology. The team is developing the capability to achieve 3D shallow-water seafloor imaging, characterization of the water column, and classification of benthic habitat and coastal landcover.
As part of this team, the employee participates in designing and building a new generation of bathymetric LIDAR systems.

Duties and Responsibilities: Test /Documentation/Compliance Engineer

Under the direction of Optech’s systems development manager, accomplish all necessary engineering activities to:

  • Develop client/server architecture in TCP/IP for an airborne electro-optical system
  • Integrate sub systems from component to board to modules level.
  • Interface and configure amplifiers, drivers and digitizers. Develop acquisition protocol for data capture to memory. Develop data recording, structures and software.
  • Design embedded master micro-controller for syncing all synchronous elements.
  • Develop code in “C” and Tcl/Tk as required
  • Generate diagnostic code (preferably in Yorick language)
  • Establish and maintain a revision system for real-time codes
  • Provide user-friendly documentation packages for R&D, manufacturing; 
  • Documentation control and maintenance;
  • Support existing designs;  
  • Ensure the design follows industry standards and meet the product specifications;

Qualifications:

  • University degree in software engineering, electrical engineering or computer science
  • Experience in networking using TCP/IP and server software for wireless systems
  • Experience in embedded microcontroller programming
  • Experience with Intel x86 platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, “C”, Assembly, Tcl/Tk , X86, and MicroChip languages and with the linux operating system
  • Experience with developing drivers in the linux operating system

This job is in Kiln, Mississippi and requires permanent residency and work authorization in the US.
