Test Engineer - Advanced Technology Division

Role: Reporting to the Product Design Supervisor responsible for providing product engineering support and assistance in the design and development of existing products in accordance with industry regulations, cost and quality guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities: Test /Documentation/Compliance Engineer

Test Function

  • Work closely with Product Development Group to specify Design for Test requirements.
  • Define test requirements and ensure traceability to specifications.
  • Develop product test plans, design test cases, conduct required tests, and write QA test report.
  • Validate and perform qualification testing on new products.
  • Establish software validation plans for each product release. Perform qualitative and quantitative tests to determine properties, characteristics, and performance of circuits, mechanisms, assemblies and test units.
  • Design, specify and implement test equipment, test fixtures and test software as it applies to board test, and system level testing.
  • Train Manufacturing Test Engineers and Technicians as required.

Documentation Function

  • Create documentation tree for products/projects.
  • Assure that documentation is organized in clear and logical format.
  • Audit documentation to assure it is sufficient for consecutive builds and/or transfer to production.
  • Gather any missing information to complete documentation.

Compliance Function

  • Understand and interpret the relevance of product legislation and regulations in different regions around the world and apply this knowledge to the development of new products.
  • Assist product development with implementation of safety, CSA, FCC, CE and other applicable requirements as well as testing for new and/or modified designs. Maintain relationships with compliance and certificate test agencies. Ensure all new testing requirements are up to date within the company. Organize and maintain all test records and compliance and certifications of company products.
  • Conduct EMC, Product Safety and Environmental testing at outside test labs as required
  • Maintain environmental, regulatory and compliance documents and processes, and make sure they are organized, easily accessible and up to date.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE preferred and minimum 3 years experience in designing and implementing test process
  • Experience with test automation using test automation software
  • Strong familiarity with the use of test equipment.
  • Good communication and strong writing skills.
